La Habana Vieja es considerada el “corazón” de la capital cubana por sus propios habitantes y también por aquellos que la visitan a diario, es una de las 7 primeras villas fundadas por los españoles en Cuba, que fue creada a partir del puerto, el centro oficial y la plaza de Armas.
En ella están todos los grandes monumentos antiguos, las fortalezas, los conventos e iglesias, los palacios, las callejuelas, los portalones, las columnas, las rejas, y sobre todo su gente, quienes viven es este “conjunto colonial” calificado por expertos como el más rico de Hispanoamérica.
Después de una larga espera que deterioró mucho las edificaciones comenzó responsable proceso restaurador muy minucioso liderado por la Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad, dirigida por Eusebio Leal.
Nada de “coloretes” a las viejas edificaciones. Se ha trabajado y se trabaja con seriedad para que este proceso reparador sea duradero y conserve los valores originales.
Poetas, artistas, escultores, escritores…pintan a La Habana Vieja desde diferentes perspectivas, siempre reflejando que es un centro histórico vivo, con su gente que aprende a valorar el patrimonio legado durante cinco siglos.
